ESG Essentials is a new European project funded by the Erasmus+ programme, aiming to strengthen training on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The project brings together partners from across Europe, including Balkan Bridge, a Bulgarian organisation with solid experience in the management and implementation of European projects.
During the project’s Kick-off Meeting, one of the key partners, Balkan Bridge, was officially introduced to the consortium. The organisation was represented by Gergana Georgieva, Project Manager for Bulgaria, who highlighted how the experience gained through the management of more than ten ongoing Erasmus+ projects will be leveraged to support this new European initiative.
“We are excited to be part of an initiative that aims to disseminate and strengthen knowledge of ESG standards among SMEs and their associations,” said Gergana Georgieva, emphasising the active role of the Balkan Bridge team in developing effective, practical and adaptable training content suited to different European contexts.
Although no major critical issues were identified, several key challenges were discussed during the meeting, including the need for effective coordination among European partners, the customisation of ESG training content and the integration of the specific expertise of each participating organisation. In this context, Balkan Bridge’s previous experience was recognised as a valuable asset in addressing these challenges and turning them into strengths of the project.
As part of the next steps, Gergana Georgieva will lead activities for the Bulgarian partner, contributing to project documentation and supporting the development of ESG strategies tailored to local SMEs. At the same time, the project coordinator will plan follow-up meetings and further define the overall operational plan.
